The 3 big health trends for 2026

Reset your health and happiness this year with fitness, self-care, food and drink

Welcome to 2026 – the perfect moment to take some time for yourself.

From beauty and self-care to healthy eating and workout wear, immune-boosting and strength-building supplements and the best trainers and equipment, Drake Circus and The Barcode have everything you need to feel good this year.

With the sales running until the end of January and New Year habits on the horizon, scoop up some brilliant finds and make this year your best one yet…

1. The must-know workout and wellness trends for 2026

Interval walking (fast for three minutes then three minutes recovery), targeted strength training whatever your age, thoughtful recovery days (with breathwork, yoga and saunas) and community workouts are all set to be big trends for this year.

To get you in the right frame of mind, it’s time to invest in breathable, well-designed and comfy workout wear. H&M have just released the Wellness Edit featuring statement styles in pomegranate red and this season’s Pantone Cloud Dancer, Primark have some gorgeous new gym collections (including a new collab with Rita Ora) while Marks & Spencer’s Goodmove collection has wrap jackets and morning-to-evening leggings for women plus versatile muscle vests and running shorts for men.

Head to Mango, Next, New Look, Fat Face, Mountain Warehouse and Superdry too.

For trainers, Onitsuka Tiger’s Mexico 66 and adidas x Stella McCartney’s boxing styles are set to be massive alongside classic running trainers from Brooks, Saucony, Asics, Nike and New Balance (there’s also a micro trend for ballet sneakers) at Schuh, Foot Locker, Footasylum and JD Sports.

Equipment-wise, it’s about biohacking with the support of wearable tec,h including sleep trackers and smart rings alongside basic essentials including foam rollers, resistance bands, yoga mats, kettlebells and skipping ropes at JD Sports, Flying Tiger Copenhagen and Apple. Get inspired at Trident Gym too, which offers weight machines, functional fitness equipment, saunas and ice baths (they offer pay as you go from £7 and monthly sign ups from £40).

Supporting your workouts with supplement stacking (bespoke combinations for sleep, recovery, skin and strength – try Habi’s gummies and Humantra electrolytes at Boots) means investing in rehydrating mineral salts (potassium, magnesium and sodium), plenty of Vitamin D in the winter months and muscle-building creatine at Boots and Superdrug. If you’re in need of some inspiration, the Winter Olympics kick off in Milan this February.

2. Healthy eating, juices, Veganuary, Dry January and social get-togethers

Just because we’re into the new year doesn’t mean you can’t indulge by eating and drinking the rainbow. Mix up your diet with plenty of health-giving juices with pomegranate, beetroot, cranberry, orange and dark green juices (kale, spinach) ideal for heart health, inflammation and vitamins at M&S Cafe Revive.

For food, trends include even more focus on gut health with plenty of prebiotic fibre (go for chia seed and flax, plenty of beans and greens). Marks & Spencer has lots of inspiring buys including delicious kimchi as part of the three for £8 range, new Nutrient Dense meals and health shots featuring protein, collagen and iodine.

Socialising and seeing people you love is also vital for mental and physical health this year (especially if it means stepping away from the smartphone) so plan in some Veganuary sharing feasts, Dry January mocktails and smoothies and some fun days out at Boom Battle Bar, Paradise Island Adventure Golf, Spinners, Brewdog (who are famous for their no or low-alcohol drinks with burgers for £1 this January), Cosy Club, Franco Manca, Las Iguanas (see their bottomless tapas offer), Yo! (with naked katsu and £5 plates), Zizzi, Bubble CiTea, Five Guys, Nando’s and Slim Chickens.

3. Hair, beauty, journals and self-care trends for the New Year

#SelfcareSundays are making way for all-week relaxation and rejuvenation. Turn your home into a sanctuary with essential oils, uplifting candles, bath soaks (especially magnesium in the winter months – Lush have an amazing Deep Sleep Bath Bomb) and wellness journals at Mooch and Flying Tiger Copenhagen (keep one by your bedside so you can unload your thoughts before bedtime to encourage a more restful sleep).

Now’s also the time to invest in body and hair oils (look for castor, rosemary, coconut, or argan oil which penetrate the scalp and hair shaft and nourish from within) as central heating and a lack of sun can wreak havoc on our skin.

Sleep lip masks from Laneige, Gisou and Boots are easy ways to indulge while hair masks from Ouai, Sam McKnight and Amika’s Soulfood will leave you feeling utterly pampered at Boots, Oliver Bonas, Superdrug and Lush. Here’s to the brand new year!
