Dementia Action Week

Dementia Action Week is taking place 15th – 21st May.

It is an annual event that aims to raise awareness about dementia and recognise the important role of caregivers in providing support and care for people living with the condition.

Dementia is a progressive brain disorder that affects millions of people worldwide. It is characterised by a decline in cognitive abilities, including memory loss, difficulty with language, and impaired judgement. Dementia is a complex and challenging condition that can have a significant impact on the lives of those living with it and their families.

This Dementia Care week, we are showing our support at Drake Circus in several ways.

Our Management Staff will be taking part in Age Uk’s Dementia Friends training sessions to increase their knowledge and understanding of the disease and how to implement a more dementia friendly work environment. Find out more about Dementia Friends training for organisations and individuals by following this link.

We will have Memory Matters charity heading into the centre on Thursday to raise awareness of the wonderful community work they do, and fundraise, so make sure you stop by to have a talk with the team and see how you can get involved! Find out more about them here.
