About Us
Wild Things Play Project is a busy, community-focused play venue and café. We pride ourselves on delivering a safe, fun environment for families alongside a high-quality food and drink offering. We are currently streamlining our front-of-house team and are looking for proactive, hands-on Shift Leaders to take ownership of the floor and ensure every shift runs smoothly.
The Role
As a Shift Leader, you are the engine of our daily operations. Working closely with the General Manager, you will be responsible for driving the day-to-day running of the café, delivering excellent customer service, and ensuring our high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained at all times. This is an active, fast-paced role where you will be expected to lead by example on the floor.
Key Responsibilities:
• Venue Management: Safely and securely opening and closing the venue according to company procedures.
• Café Operations: Running the day-to-day flow of the café, keeping service fast, friendly, and efficient.
• Food & Drink Service: Preparing food orders to a consistently high standard and making barista-quality coffee (training provided).
• Compliance: Accurately completing and filing daily food hygiene records and compliance logs.
• Venue Standards: Carrying out general cleaning duties across the café and play areas, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our guests at all times.
What We Are Looking For:
• Knowledgeable: You have a solid understanding of daily food hygiene records and food safety standards.
• Reliable: You are dependable and available to independently manage opening and closing shifts.
• Adaptable: You thrive in a busy environment and can seamlessly switch between making coffee, preparing food, and keeping the floor clean.
• Desired (but not essential): Previous café experience, including hands-on food preparation and barista experience, is highly preferred. However, full training will be provided for the right candidate with a great attitude!
