Job Title: Estate Security CCTV Controller

Reporting to: Senior Controller

Job detail: Estate Security Officer

Summary & Purpose of the Role

This role is the main communication for the site relating to emergency situations, routine monitoring of all safety/fire/life safety systems, car parks, interior and exterior for The Mall and exterior for the Leisure Complex.  All duties to be carried out in adherence with the IFM Health and Safety policy.  Care to be always taken regarding personal appearance and hygiene.  To assure that the company standards and policies are followed and maintained.

Person specification:

Customer Service/Communication

  • Assisting retailers on request on the event of an incident – this may be in person or by camera or both.
  • To be enthusiastic, helpful, courteous, and inspired by the Drake Circus Estate customer charter always and to attend staff briefings when requested by Management.
  • Maintain polite and good communication with your colleagues, retailers and shoppers always.
  • Answer and direct all enquiries, which come via the Intercom and Telephone Systems efficiently, effectively and professionally.
  • Communicate and manage the Radio System, both internal and external to the estate.

CCTV

  • Monitor CCTV in an organised and systematic fashion to ensure the safety of public, staff and contractors.
  • Possess the ability to provide results or resolutions to problems with a positive and courteous manner.
  • To comply with both British Land and Incentive FM policies as well as the safe guidance of GDPR information, including the correct distribution and obtaining of authorising signatures for any CCTV release forms.
  • Keeping all Control and CCTV areas clear, clean and professional always and in a state of readiness for any planned/unplanned event(s).

Service/Communication

Security

  • Monitor and control access/egress to the Control Suite, with no unauthorised accesses.
  • Ensuring that the Control Suite is kept locked and always sealed.
  • Manage the control of contractors on-site including passes.
  • Assisting Police presence on site either in person, by camera or by statement.
  • Awareness of responsibilities and powers as a member of the security team and when to hand over to Police instruction.
  • Report anything in need of repair or replacement to the Services Manager.
  • In relation to a major incident must be fully conversant with the location of all plant room, service corridors and lifts, both by location and by name.

The role is normally physically demanding in hours and duties, with varied weather conditions and work predominantly internally but may be required to work externally. There will also be conflict resolution and flexibility expected as a r Carpark

  • Monitor and manage traffic within the car parks for the Estate and deploy resources efficiently to reduce congestion as much as possible.

HR

  • Provide a superior, proactive, personalised level of service to visitors, retailers, and contractors to The Drake Circus Estate.
  • Be observant and take action to provide a safe and secure shopping/leisure environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of client and staff information.
  • Be familiar with the required care standards regulations governing your job.

Admin

  • Accurately record all events including but not limited to incidents & evacuations in the occurrence book to ensure the site has an accurate scribe of all activities. This will include Fire safety logs.

H&S

  • Monitor all life safety systems including but not limited to the fire alarm system, intruder system, sprinkler system, etc.  Initiate actions to protect life and structure as required by the life safety systems which may include but not limited to evacuations, search plans, etc.
  • Responsible for the awareness of Health and Safety.  Procedures carried out must be in line with the Health and Safety Policy - set procedures are indicated in the Assignment Instructions.
  • Responsible for full comprehensive understanding of fire alarm procedures.

    Other

  • Start shift promptly in enough time for a handover, at time designated.
  • The wearing of full Drake Circus uniform.
  • Appearance to be immaculate always. Including long hair tied back and any facial hair kept tidy.
  • Always keep your working area and space clean and tidy and your tools and equipment safely stored.
  • Be prepared to receive and undertake further training as required.
  • At all times to follow through any managerial instructions.
  • To ensure no food or beverages are consumed within the CCTV workstation areas of any kind.
  • To ensure that no personal electrical devises are taken within the main control room e.g., mobile phones, tablets, laptops

 Skills and Experience

Must hold SIA CCTV badge, with the extra SIA Door supervisors’ badge being an advantage.

  • Minimum 1 year CCTV controller experience required.
  • Experience of working and building partnerships with customers, retailers, residents and contractors
  • Articulate and can communicate effectively with the clients and the IFM teams
  • Customer service experience desirable
  • Organised individual who can demonstrate a record of planning and managing workflows
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of high-quality service delivery and their impact on this
  • The ability to be agile and flexible to meet the needs and demands of the role
  • Excellent time management organisation and focus on ability to prioritise and multitask with clear ability to focus on detail.
