PRIMARK FOR SPRING SUMMER 2008
Primark buzzes with all the new trends and looks for Spring and Summer 2008.
Spring launches off with the “Utility” influence with a nostalgic casual look.
Lightweight denim is a key player with wide leg jeans, playsuits and waistcoats worn with shirts in washed florals, checks and ditzy prints.
The cargo pant and parka are much in evidence but are calmed down with blouses and tops – a very easy casual timeless chic.
Super colours are khakis and blues but with exuberant bursts of green, yellow and coral. Then there is the perennial favourite – the sophisticated “Monochrome” combination of black and white but seen now in a more structured masculine tailoring but with delightful feminine touches.
Puff sleeve blouses or shift dresses and clinched in waists on pencil skirts and high waisted trousers. A very elegant refined look.
Polka dots, 40’s style blouses and graphic effect prints are the key styles in dramatic black, white and red.
Spring progresses with the cruise “Portside” look which is going to be very popular. Strong blazers, mac and belted trench coats worn with high waisted trousers and 50’s full skirts.
Shirts in stripes or spots many with pussy cat bows or stripy knits. There is a demure Victorian feeling on dresses and blouses, details include buttons, ticking linings, taping and contrast binding.
Here are the Riviera colours of navy, red, stone and lemon with cool Spearmint for later.
Late Spring at Primark brings a mood of soft romance with “Romantics” – sheer and delicate fabrics in dresses, blouses and skirts. Lots of ruffles and lace in vintage ditzy prints or for a more casual appearance there are broderie anglaise and crochet trims.
All in the soft shades of creams and stones, antique pink and duck egg blue.
For high Summer at Primark the choice is endless and covers all the moods of summer dressing. There is a party feeling with “Tahiti” - rich Polynesian and Amazon colours and prints in large scale florals alongside ambres and dip dyes.
Maxi boho and sundresses in blazes of colour and printed kaftans with crochet and sequin trims, or coloured animal prints and washed linen trousers and skirts.
Colours are vibrant turquoise, fuchsia, jade, orange, purple, yellow, tan and gold. To contrast we have a vibrant clash of ethnic and tribal influences – “Culture Clash”.
African inspired and animal prints on dresses and kaftans accented with wooden beading and crochet.
The evergreen Safari jacket and shorts with the 4 pocket dress bring a tailored look to the African scene. Here the colours are coolly elegant tobacco, brown and tan with splashes of orange and lime.
Lastly, retro brights burst forth in a “Kaleidescope” of brilliant colours – green, orange, tangerine, fuchsia, turquoise, royal blue and yellow.
These can be seen in an eclectic mix of brights and vintage t-shirts worn with black denim.
Sportswear in this section is full of vivid colours with lots of stripes and contrast colour blocks – all in all a Preppie look which later in the season returns to top-to-toe colour bright dressing.
Marled front print t-shirts, stripes and high waisted fit n’ flare denim or wide leg jeans are the secret to this retro look Primark has all the ‘hot’ looks for 2008 but at ‘cool’ prices.
